"We are all Flesh (Istanbul)" 2011-2012, Berlinde De Bruyckere. On display at Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna in Rome. I found the descriptive label more than a little disingenuous: "Through the artworks here on display the artist investigates pain and intends to demonstrate how suffering and the horror of violence unite both humans and animals. The horse parts employed come from slaughterhouse waste. No animals were harmed in the making of these artworks."
